Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the GainsAI Android app, package name com.janstech.gainsai, its backend API, and the related legal/support pages.
Data we process
- Account and identity data: Firebase user ID, sign-in provider, email address when you sign in with email or Google, and Google account email shown for Drive backup when available.
- Technical identifiers and security data: app-generated device ID, Firebase ID token, Firebase App Check token, Google Play Integrity signals, request IDs, timestamps, and rate-limit counters.
- Training and profile data: onboarding/profile answers, training goal, experience level, equipment, available days, saved programs, active plan, workout history, exercise sets, repetitions, loads, RIR/RPE where entered, and substitution preferences.
- Health, body, and nutrition-related data: weight, waist and other body measurements, optional notes, weekly check-in answers, nutrition targets, daily nutrition logs, calories, macros, meal-plan preferences, and generated meal plans.
- AI input and output data: prompts or structured inputs you submit for plan generation, recommendations, meal plans, nutrition localization, and Coach; compact backend context needed to answer Coach questions; generated responses.
- Purchase and entitlement data: Google Play product and base-plan identifiers, purchase token sent for backend verification, subscription state, entitlement state, expiry and acknowledgement metadata. GainsAI does not receive full payment card details.
- Diagnostics and analytics: Firebase Analytics app interaction events, feature usage, app version, language, high-level result states, Crashlytics crash traces in production release builds, and bounded backend operational logs.
- Optional Google Drive backup data: a GainsAI backup file in your Google Drive app data area, which can contain account/profile, plan, saved program, substitution, active workout, settings, Firebase UID, and Google account email snapshot data.
- Optional Health Connect data: weight records are read and written only if Health Connect is available and you grant the requested permissions.
- Optional AI content reports: when you report a GainsAI Coach response in the app, GainsAI may process the report category, optional comment, message reference, bounded AI-response snapshot or hash, content language, app version, status, and timestamp.
Purposes and legal bases
Data is processed to provide app functionality, authenticate users, keep account-linked data separate, generate and display training and nutrition features, verify Pro subscriptions, protect the backend, maintain service quality, respond to support and privacy requests, and comply with legal obligations.
For EU/EEA users, the legal bases may include contract performance for app features and subscriptions, consent for optional features such as Health Connect and Google Drive backup, legitimate interests for security, diagnostics and product improvement, and legal obligation where records must be kept.
AI features and OpenAI
GainsAI uses backend AI processing for features such as program generation, recommendation text, nutrition localization, meal-plan generation, and Coach. Relevant user inputs and compact app context may be sent from the backend to OpenAI API services when those features are used.
AI outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. GainsAI does not use AI outputs for advertising or cross-app tracking. GainsAI does not state that OpenAI has zero data retention unless that has been separately enabled and verified.
You can report problematic GainsAI Coach responses in the app. Reports are used to review AI safety issues and may include a bounded snapshot of the reported AI response plus your optional comment. Do not include passwords, tokens, or extra personal information in the report comment.
Health and fitness data
GainsAI is a fitness and wellness app, not a medical device or healthcare provider. It uses health and fitness-related data to provide training, body metric, nutrition, progress, and Coach features.
Do not use GainsAI for diagnosis, treatment, emergency help, or professional medical decisions. Consult a qualified professional when you have pain, injury, illness, pregnancy, an eating disorder, unexplained weight loss, medication-related questions, or other health concerns.
Processors and external services
GainsAI may use Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics, Firebase App Check, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play Integrity, Google Play Billing, Google Play In-App Updates, Google Drive API, Health Connect, OpenAI API, Hetzner-hosted backend/database infrastructure, and email services used when you contact support.
Retention and deletion
Backend account data is retained while needed to provide GainsAI features and is deleted when you complete account deletion, except for limited records retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or billing-token replay prevention where applicable.
The in-app account deletion flow deletes GainsAI backend data, including current AI content reports and Coach message reporting receipts, clears local account data, attempts Firebase Authentication deletion, and can delete the GainsAI Google Drive appDataFolder backup if you choose that option. If you do not delete the Drive backup, it may remain in your Google Drive and may contain older account data.
Crashlytics, Firebase, Google, OpenAI, Google Play, and hosting-provider logs may follow their own retention rules. GainsAI limits intentional logging of free-text user content, tokens, purchase tokens, email addresses, and health data.
International transfers
Because GainsAI uses global service providers, data may be processed outside your country, including outside the EU/EEA. Transfers are handled through the relevant service provider terms, safeguards, and applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent for optional processing, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Contact support to exercise these rights.
Children
GainsAI is not directed to children. Do not use the app if you are below the minimum age required in your country to use this type of service without guardian consent.
Security
GainsAI uses HTTPS, Firebase authentication, App Check, Play Integrity, backend ownership checks, limited logging, and account-scoped deletion controls. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be published on this page with a new update date.
